Introduction

CellProTM Serum-free Medium (cat. no. SF1801-02) is a serum-free medium designed for the cultivation of a wide variety of mammalian cell types. The medium consists of a DMEM:F-12 base which is supplemented with recombinant human insulin, bovine transferrin and a purified mixture of bovine serum proteins including albumin. The total protein concentration of CellProTM Serum-free Medium  is approximately 3 mg/ml. CellProTM Serum-free Medium does not contain L-glutamine.

CellProTM Serum-free Medium  has been used to grow a variety of cells of primary origin and established cell lines. The medium may be used to support the fusion of cells during the formation of hybridomas.CellProTM Serum-free Medium has been used to grow cells of lymphoid origin including monocyte and macrophage cell lines. Epithelial and fibroblastic cells have been cultivated in CellProTM Serum-free Medium  and endothelial cells have been cultivated under reduced serum concentration (5% fetal bovine serum using CellProTM Serum-free Medium  as a base formulation).

CellProTM Serum-free Medium  has also been used as a complete medium to support the generation of viral particles for use in vaccine production.

Instructions for Use

CellProTM Serum-free Medium is a complete all-purpose serum-free medium which supports the growth of a wide variety of both non-adherent and adherent cell lines. The product is ready-to-use with the simple addition of 5.0 ml of L-glutamine solution per 500 ml.

Turbidity may develop CellProTM Serum-free Medium . Experiments have determined that the turbidity will not alter the performance of the product.

CellProTM Serum-free Medium should be stored at 2¡ãC - 8¡ãC. For cells in serum-containing medium weaning is NOT required.
