Product Background
Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) is a widely used basal medium optimized for the growth of a variety of mammalian cells. This glucose-free formulation allows researchers to study metabolic pathways, hypoxia, or diabetes-related cellular responses by controlling glucose levels externally. The medium contains high concentrations of amino acids, vitamins, and inorganic salts, supporting cell proliferation under defined conditions.

Usage Instructions
1. Reconstitution:
- For powdered DMEM, dissolve in distilled water, adjust pH to 7.4, and filter-sterilize.
- Liquid DMEM is ready-to-use after thawing at 4℃.
2. Glucose Supplementation:Add D-glucose to desired concentration (e.g., 4.5 g/L for standard DMEM).
3. Additives:Supplement with 10% FBS, 2 mM L-glutamine (if not included), and 1% penicillin/streptomycin.
4. Cell Culture: Use at 37℃ under 5–10% CO₂. Monitor cell growth and adjust glucose as needed.
Quality Control
- Performance: Tested for cell viability (e.g., HEK293, HeLa) ≥95% over 72 hours.
- Sterility: Passes USP/EP tests for bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma.
- Osmolality: 320–340 mOsm/kg (measured).
- pH: 7.2–7.6 (at 25℃).
Precautions
1. Storage:
- Liquid: 2–8℃ (avoid freezing). Powder: ≤25℃, desiccated.
- Shelf life: 12 months (liquid), 36 months (powder).
2. Handling:
- Use aseptic techniques. Pre-warm to 37℃ before use.
- Discard if turbidity or precipitation occurs.
3. Safety: Not for human or diagnostic use. Wear PPE when handling.
